Welcome to the XForms Developer Zone web-site.

Since our last bulletin, XForms 1.1 has become a full standard, and we've had two meetings of the London XForms User Group.

XForms 1.1 becomes a full recommendation

It's been a long time coming, but XForms 1.1 is now a full recommendation...and it's packed with features that will make building rich internet applications even easier. Not only that, the spec itself is much clearer than its predecessor, and comes with many more examples. All in all, this is a really significant publication.

For a description of the changes, and links to other articles, read XForms 1.1 becomes a full recommendation.

The London XForms User Group

The inaugural meeting of the London XForms User Group saw a dozen people gather to hear about XForms' MVC architecture, whilst the second meeting saw an examination of the various ways that XForms relates to Ajax.

A special thank-you must go to our hosts, Skills Matter, who not only provide a room and refreshments for the monthly meetings, but also video the talks, and make them available. The two meetings we've had so far, are available at Introduction to XForms and XForms and Ajax.

Next meeting

The main topic of the November meeting will be Big forms in big business, and we're lucky enough to have an industry expert -- Neal Champion -- speaking to us that evening. We'll also have a short section on what's new in XForms 1.1.

If you'd like to come along, we'd love to see you. And even if you can't make it, join the User Group mailing-list, and we'll keep you posted about XForms-related activities and events, in and around London.

Featured articles

And finally, a couple of articles to draw your attention to. The first is from Alex Sansom, and shows a way to use XSLT to generate XForms from some sample XML data. It's a simple technique, but it's a useful way to quickly get started on a form, when you already have some data.

The second article is from Mark Birbeck, and looks at a new XForms 1.1 feature, specifying the submission URL and headers at run-time.
